What we do

Complete Brake Service

We handle every part of the brake system — from a simple pad swap to a full caliper rebuild. Every job starts with an honest inspection.

Brake Pad Replacement

We stock pads for every vehicle — economy, OEM-equivalent, performance, and ceramic. We'll show you the options and let you choose. No pressure.

Rotor Resurfacing & Replacement

We measure rotor thickness on every job. If they're within spec, we resurface. If they're below minimum thickness or warped, we replace. We show you the numbers.

Caliper Service

Sticking or seized calipers cause uneven pad wear, pulling, and overheating. We rebuild or replace calipers and free the slides — restoring even braking.

Brake Fluid Flush

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, lowering its boiling point and degrading performance. Most manufacturers recommend a flush every 2 years. We check moisture content before recommending service.

ABS Diagnostics

ABS warning light on? We diagnose the system, check wheel speed sensors, the ABS module, and hydraulic actuators. No guessing — we read the codes before recommending any repair.

Brake Inspection

Not sure if you need brakes? Come in for a free visual inspection. We'll measure pad thickness, check the rotors, look at the calipers, and give you an honest assessment — no charge, no obligation.

How we work

Honest Brake Service — Every Time

A lot of shops upsell on brakes because customers can't see inside the wheels. We don't operate that way. When we inspect your brakes, we tell you exactly what we found, what the measurements are, and what actually needs to be done right now versus what can wait.

If your brake pads have 40% life left, we'll tell you they're fine and send you home. That's the kind of shop we are — it's how we've kept customers coming back since 1988.

We use quality parts — name-brand pads and rotors — and back our brake jobs with a parts and labor warranty. Ask us about the specific warranty when you come in.

Warning Signs to Watch For

  • Squealing when braking

Wear indicators are touching the rotor. You have pads left, but not much — come in soon.

  • Grinding metal-on-metal

Pads are gone. The caliper bracket is cutting into the rotor. Come in today — driving on this damages rotors fast.

  • Pulling to one side when braking

Uneven pad wear or a stuck caliper. The car drifts left or right when you hit the brakes.

  • Soft or spongy pedal

Air in the brake lines or a fluid leak. This is a safety issue — don't delay.

  • Vibration when stopping

Warped rotors. The pedal pulses as you slow down. Most common after hard stops or lots of highway driving.

  • Brake warning light

Could be the pad wear sensor, the ABS system, or low fluid. We'll diagnose it and tell you exactly what's going on.

Common questions

Brake Service FAQ

Squealing or grinding when you brake, a soft or spongy pedal, pulling to one side when stopping, or the brake warning light. If you notice any of these, come in and we'll inspect them for free.

Brake pad replacement typically runs $150–$300 per axle depending on the vehicle and parts. Rotors add to that cost. We give you a quote before we start anything — no surprises.

Not always. We measure rotor thickness and check for grooves or warping. If they're within spec we resurface them. If they're below minimum thickness or damaged, we'll recommend replacement and show you why.

A standard pad replacement takes 1–2 hours. If we're also replacing rotors or doing caliper work it can be 2–3 hours. We'll give you a time estimate when you drop off.

Yes — we back our brake jobs with a parts and labor warranty. Ask us about the specific terms when you come in. We stand behind our work.

No. Metal-on-metal grinding means your pads are gone. Every mile you drive damages the rotors further, turning a $150 pad job into a $400 pad-and-rotor job. Come in as soon as possible.

Choosing Brake Pads

Pad Material Comparison

We stock pads in every common material so you can pick the right trade-off for your vehicle and driving. Here's how the four main types compare on the things that actually matter day-to-day.

Pad Material Stopping Power Dust Noise Lifespan Best For
Ceramic Strong Very low Very quiet Long Daily drivers, luxury cars, anyone who hates wheel dust
Semi-Metallic Excellent (especially when hot) Heavy, dark Some squeal possible Medium Trucks, SUVs, towing, heavy-duty use
Organic / NAO Adequate Moderate Quiet Shorter Light commuters, budget builds
Performance Maximum, best when hot Heavy Can be loud Variable Track use, spirited driving, modified cars

Most Long Beach drivers do well on ceramic pads — quiet, clean wheels, long life, plenty of stopping power for everyday driving. Truck owners hauling or towing should consider semi-metallic for the extra heat capacity. We'll tell you what's installed on your car now and recommend the right pad material for how you actually drive. See our $25-off pad & rotor offer when you book a full brake service.

BRAKES YOU CAN SEE FOR YOURSELF

Brakes are easy to oversell because most customers can't see them. We do it the opposite way — we measure, we show you, and you decide.

WE MEASURE EVERYTHING

Pad thickness in millimeters, rotor thickness against manufacturer spec. You see the readings, not just our opinion.

PADS ONLY WHEN POSSIBLE

If your rotors are still in spec and not warped, we'll do a pad-only job. We don't replace what doesn't need replacing.

WE SHOW YOU THE WEAR

Before any brake work begins, we walk you to the bay and show you exactly what we're seeing. You make the call from there.

NO COMMISSION TECHS

Our technicians don't earn more by recommending bigger jobs. If we say it needs to be done, it's because it does.

Need a brake inspection?

Free visual inspection at both Long Beach locations. Walk-ins welcome, most brake jobs done same day.
