CAR BATTERIES
We test your battery before we recommend replacing it. If it has life left, we'll tell you. If it needs to go, we replace and install it the same day — at both Long Beach locations.
WARNING SIGNS
Southern California heat is harder on batteries than cold climates. Most batteries in Long Beach last 3–5 years. If you're seeing any of these symptoms, get the battery tested before it fails at the wrong time.
Slow or labored crank
The engine turns over sluggishly before starting — or doesn't start at all.
Battery or check engine light
Your car is flagging a charging system or battery problem through the ECU.
Electrical gremlins
Power windows slow down, radio resets, lights flicker — battery voltage is inconsistent.
Swollen battery case
Heat has caused the battery to swell. Replace immediately — a swollen battery can leak acid.
Battery older than 4 years
In SoCal heat, 4–5 years is the typical lifespan. Get it tested before it strands you.
Car jumped frequently
If you've had to jump-start more than once in recent months, the battery is losing capacity.
WHAT WE DO
Battery Load Test
We connect a load tester to your battery and measure how it performs under the same draw your starter motor produces. A battery can read 12.6V at rest and still fail under load — the load test tells you whether the battery can actually do its job.
Charging System Test
A failing alternator kills new batteries fast. We test the alternator output while the engine runs to confirm it's charging correctly (13.5–14.5V is normal). If the alternator is undercharging, a new battery won't fix your problem.
Battery Replacement
We stock batteries for cars, trucks, SUVs, and light commercial vehicles. Sizes available include Group 35, Group 51R, Group 65, Group 24F, and others. We'll find the correct group size for your vehicle and install it with the correct terminal orientation and hold-down hardware.
Post-Replace Reset
Some vehicles — BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, and others — require a battery registration procedure after replacement so the alternator charges at the right rate. We handle this with the appropriate scan tool. Your radio presets and power window memory may reset regardless of vehicle — normal, and takes a minute to restore.
Corrosion Cleaning
We clean corrosion from battery terminals and cable ends at every replacement — white and blue corrosion buildup increases resistance and can prevent a good battery from starting the car.
COMMON QUESTIONS
How do I know if my car battery is dying?
Slow engine crank, battery warning light, flickering electronics, swollen case, or a battery over 4–5 years old. We test in minutes — free of charge.
How long does battery replacement take?
20–30 minutes including charging system test. Vehicles that require a battery registration procedure take a few minutes longer.
How long does a car battery last in SoCal?
3–5 years in Southern California heat. Heat accelerates internal battery degradation faster than cold — the same battery lasts longer in colder climates.
Do you test batteries without charging me?
Yes. Battery and alternator tests are free. We only charge if you need parts and labor for a replacement.
