The Honest Reason
Why Most Shops Won't Align a Lowered Car
It isn't that they don't want your business. Four real constraints get in the way, and knowing them tells you what to ask before you drive across town.
The rack can't read a car that low
Most alignment racks need a minimum ride height to get the camera targets in view and to roll the vehicle for compensation. A slammed car either won't clear the ramps or won't register. Shops without a plan for this turn the car away at the counter.
Factory spec stops being reachable
Drop a car two inches and camber goes negative and toe changes with it. There is no bolt on a stock control arm that brings it back. A shop that only knows how to turn the tie rod will hand the car back with the tires still wearing on the inside edge.
Hydraulics and air ride move the target
A lowrider on hydraulics or a car on bags sits at different heights depending on the switch. Aligning at the wrong height means the spec is wrong every time the car is at its normal cruising position.
It takes longer, so it pays worse
A stock sedan is 45 minutes. A lowered car with adjustable hardware can take twice that. High-volume chains are built around bay turnover, so the honest answer is that the job doesn't fit their model.

Hardware and Setups We Work With
A lowered car usually needs adjustment range that the factory never built in. Here's what that looks like in practice, and what we'll tell you before you buy parts.
Camber kits and camber bolts
Eccentric bolts buy roughly a degree of correction on a strut car. Past that you need a proper camber plate or an adjustable upper mount. We tell you which one your car takes before you buy the wrong one.
Adjustable control arms
On rear-multilink and many truck platforms, adjustable upper or lower arms are the only way back to spec after a drop. We align around what you have, and tell you plainly when the parts on the car can't get there.
Adjustable toe arms
A drop pulls rear toe out of range on a lot of platforms. Rear toe left uncorrected is what eats the inside shoulder of a brand-new rear tire in a few thousand miles.
Roll center and bump steer correction
Aggressive drops change steering geometry, not just angles. If the car darts over bumps, the fix is geometry correction, not more toe adjustment.
Hydraulics and air ride
We set the car at the ride height you actually drive it at, note that height, and align to it. If you switch heights constantly, we'll talk through what spec makes the most sense for the tires.
Wire wheels and offset
Wide offset and adapters change scrub radius and how the car tracks. If we mounted the wheels here, we already know what's on the car.
Setting Expectations
What "In Spec" Means on a Lowered Car
Anyone who promises factory numbers on a slammed car either hasn't measured it or isn't telling you the truth. Here's what a good alignment on a lowered car actually delivers.
- Some camber is staying. On a heavily lowered car, pulling camber all the way to zero often isn't possible, and chasing it can hurt handling. We get it into a range that stops the tire from wearing on one edge, and we tell you the number we landed on.
- Toe is the priority. Toe destroys tires faster than camber does. On a car where camber is limited, correcting toe first is what buys back most of the tire life.
- Tire wear will still be faster than stock. A lowered car on aggressive alignment eats inside shoulders. It can be managed, not eliminated. We'll tell you what to expect so it isn't a surprise at 15,000 miles.
- Rotation matters more. On a lowered car, rotation is the cheapest thing you can do to even out wear. Tires bought here get free rotations for life.

Lowered Car Alignment Questions
Will you align a lowered or slammed car?
Yes. We align lowered sport compacts, dropped trucks, lowriders on hydraulics, and cars on air ride at both Long Beach locations. If your car is low enough that it needs to be driven onto the rack a specific way, tell us when you call and we'll plan for it.
How much does a lowered car alignment cost?
The alignment itself is the same tiered pricing as any vehicle: $110 for standard cars, $125 for extra-large vehicles, $145 and $185 for the heavier and more involved setups. Lowered cars sometimes need adjustable hardware to reach spec, and any parts or extra setup time get quoted to you before work starts, never added afterward.
My car is lowered and no shop will align it. Why?
Three reasons: the rack needs a minimum ride height to read the car, factory spec often isn't reachable without aftermarket hardware, and the job takes longer than a stock alignment. High-volume chains are built around bay turnover, so they decline. We've been aligning modified cars in Long Beach for over 30 years and it's normal work here.
Can you get my camber back to zero?
Sometimes, and sometimes not. It depends on how far the car is dropped and what adjustment hardware is on it. On a heavily lowered car we get camber into a range that stops one-edge wear rather than chasing a number that would hurt how the car drives. We show you the before and after readings either way.
Do I need a camber kit?
If your car is dropped more than about an inch and a half and the tires are wearing on the inside edge, probably yes. We measure first and tell you what the car actually needs. We're not going to sell you a kit for a drop that doesn't need one.
What ride height do you align a car on hydraulics at?
The height you actually drive it at. Tell us where the car sits when you're cruising, we set it there, and we align to that. Aligning at lockup or at the bottom gives you a spec you never drive on.
Will an alignment stop my car from rubbing?
No. Rubbing is a clearance problem — wheel offset, tire size, fender, or ride height. Alignment doesn't create clearance. We'll tell you honestly whether the fix is a different tire size, a roll, or more height.
How long does it take?
Plan on an hour and a half, sometimes more if adjustable hardware has to go on first. A stock car is 45 to 60 minutes; a lowered car with limited adjustment takes real setup time to do right.
